New Sermon Series: “Myths We Tell Ourselves About God”

“[Spiritual] myths are dangerous things. We’re positive they’re true, and we base our hopes and plans and aspirations on them. But because they have a foundation at least partially false, we can find ourselves trapped in mistaken ideas and attempting impossible tasks because of them. And myths are especially frightening when it comes to Christian living.” — George Knight, Myths in Adventism.

We all hold, consciously or not, myths that are meaningful to us. Some involve everyday life; others, our life in Christ. Today’s sermon examines the belief of “the unchanging God.” While it is certainly true that God’s character is eternal and unchanging, how He adapts His approach towards our changing and changeable lives offers fresh hope to all who seek to follow God’s plan for them.

Prayers for Pastor Todd’s family: Pastor Todd’s father, Rodney Leonard, fell this week and suffered a serious head injury; Todd has flown to Georgia to be with him. At the time of this writing, we understand that his father’s surgery went well, though the next few days are critical.
