January Second Saturday Concert

Second Saturday Concert Series for 2016 begins on Saturday, January 9, at 5:00 p.m. with a performance by Weicheng Zhao, organ, and Fang Gao, violin. Featuring music by Johann Schmelzer, Larry King, Gang Chen and Zhanhao He, Zhang Changcheng, and Yuan Ye.

Among numerous scholarships and awards, Weicheng Zhao has completed the USC Master of Music Degree program and is currently finishing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Mr. Zhao is associate organist­choirmaster at All Saints Episcopal Church, Pasadena, California.

Born in Tianjin China, Fang Gao started her violin studies at the age of four. Only one year later, as the youngest contestant she won the Excellence Prize of the First Philharmonic Cup Violin Competition in Tianjin. She is currently enrolled in the Graduate Certificate program and studies with Susan Feldman in Baroque Violin Performance at the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music.

Admission: Freewill offering. A reception will be held following the concert to allow an opportunity to meet the artists.
